Hope In President Obama Fading Away

Hope in President Obama is fading away just like any hopes of Health-care Reform. Many Democrats hope for a leader who can step up to the plate and deliver the clutch hit everyone was waiting for. Democrats around the nation stood up and did everything they could to get the Barack Obama elected. Many Americans pledge as much money they could during hard economic times. They volunteer their time going door to door getting as many people to vote as they can. Many of these volunteers spent countless hours working for his campaign hoping to get someone who will bring change to Washington D.C. All the hard work these Americans has put in may go unrewarded.

President Obama step into the White House with a majority in the Congress and Senate. He has fail to show that he has the backbone to get things done in the White House. He claim he would prosecute anybody who had broke the law during the Bush Administration. President Obama hasn’t even try to fulfill this promise and he seems to want to push it under the rug. He has continue to push Gay Rights and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell to the back of his to-do list. He has fail to get anything done on Health-Care Reform. Democrats gave President Obama every opportunity to succeed.

He has not taken advantage of the majority in Congress and Senate. He should push the Congress and Senate to get rid of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. I find that Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is unfair to the Gay Community, because it single out a group of Americans because of their sexual orientation. He has spoke about Gay Rights only when it to his interest by trying to get people to continue to vote for him next election. He hasn’t come out and spoken straight to the Congress or Senate about his concern. He also has not spoke up against people who opposes Gay Marriage. To me banning a group of people from getting marry because of their sexual orientation should be unconstitutional.

Health-Care Reform continue to be the big subject Washington D.C. these days. President Obama went straight to Health-Care Reform when he got in Office. First thing he did was take Single-Payer off the table and push for a Public Option. Quickly Democrats went in and try to get it done, but then there was a delay and Congress and Senate went on vacation. August was the month when everybody had Town Halls about Health-Care Reform. President Obama was no where to be seen during the month when everyone attack Reform. He later held a joint-session in Congress where he spoke to Representatives about how important it was to get it done.

After the Speech their hasn’t been much that the President has done except asking for Bipartisanship. The Public Option can only pass if President Obama step up to the plate and swing for the fences. He have to back up his Democrats in the Congress and Senate. President Obama needs to stop saying that the most important thing on Health-Care Reform is Bipartisanship and the Public Option is not the biggest part of Reform. The Public Option to most Democrats is the most vital part of Reform, and without it Reform is just another way Health Insurance Companies continue to take our money and run.

Also I believe that the Health Insurance Mandate should be taken off, because it will penalized the working class. Those who are unemployed and doesn’t qualified for Government Health-Care such as Medicaid will be penalized for not purchasing Health Insurance. Without a Public Option Health-Care Reform is another way for Insurance Companies to rob hard-working Americans. They need to take out the Health Insurance Mandate so that it won’t put more of a burden on the Middle Class.

President Obama needs to show that he has the courage to fight the Health Insurance Companies. His Presidency gave Democrats such an emotional lift that got people excited about Politics. It made people realize that they have a voice and can influence what happens. President Obama needs to listen to those voices, because those voices are the one who determine whether he is President in 2012. President Obama needs to realize that everyone is watching and they will judge him on Health-Care, so he needs to do whatever he can to get it done.
